Status Quo

Hey there - nothing too exciting going on right now, so haven't posted much. Just kind of playing the waiting game right now until my next appointment and we can get started again.

Our garden is really starting to produce some veggies now. Jalapenos are still growing like it's nobody's business (there are sooo many!), picked our first tomatoe yesterday, red bell peppers and cucumbers are starting to grow, radishes are sucking (flowering, but not really any actual radish - hmmm), lettuce has already been picked a few times and summer squash is still flowering. They all seem to be male flowers on the summer squash, though - I'd like at least ONE female flower so we can actually get a squash out of it! But, if now, at least the flowers are pretty to look at.

Other than that, just work as usual. Trying to take the cat out as many times a day as possible so he can get some outside time during the nice weather. I won't let him outside by himself anymore, so this may suck during the winter lol. And lastly, just waiting for DH to get home Sunday night/Monday morning. I've been missing him, so have sent him some text messages when I do. He won't get them until he gets back into civilization, but it at least makes me FEEL like I'm talking to him! haha

OK, that's it. I hope everyone is doing well (good luck tomorrow Shawna) and have a great day!

The Weekend

Nothing too exciting happened this weekend. Did some stuff around the house - cleaned up, yard work, etc... We picked our first vegetble - a jalapeno! I forgot to take a picture before I started using it. But up next we have some Early Girl tomatoes growing!
I took this picture a couple days ago and there were two small tomatoes growing - but we actually now have four!
We went to one of the Drive-Ins this weekend as well. The first movie that was playing was Get Smart and the second was The Love Guru. Neither was fantastic, but neither was bad either. That's the beautify of the Drive In. You pay $7, you get to see two movies, bring in yummy snacks, and make out with your husband if you want! haha So who cares if one of the movies isn't all that great, right? It's fun! ;-)

Fruits of Our Labor!

So - I just went out to water the garden and things have really grown overnight! Our soil here is all sand, so it sucks for growing anything. Plus, we don't plan on living here too much longer, so we've decided our garden will be a container garden rather than actually in the ground. And it works for us!

We upped what we planted this year compared to the past. Let's see, we planted a few tomato varieties - Bush Goliath, Grape, and Early Girl.

Here you can see some grape tomatoes starting!

(Plus our neighbor's car! haha)

And we L-O-V-E red peppers, especially on the grill, so we planted lots of those.
We also ventured into the world of Jalapeno peppers - love to cook with them, so hopefully these turn out. It's looking good so far - they are the front runner so far as to producing - take a look at our growing pepper babies!

Lettuce and radishes are up next - and overnight, a lettuce has popped through!

And the big winner over night were the "hills". We had one summer squash and no cucumbers last night and today there's a bunch!

Can't wait to see what I see tomorrow!

Hot, hot, hot!

OMG, it is so hot here again today - and for the next few days. 90+ degrees and very humid. I shouldn't complain - it's better than freezing weather, right?! I spent almost all day yesterday inside, so today I have to get my butt outside and do something. Maybe I'll head take a look at our garden and then maybe off to a store or something. Guess we'll see!
